I can see the Griffey comparison, but I think Carranza is much
better. Right now, he's got the 2nd highest career average in EWB
history at .334. His worst average in any year was .312; his second
worst was .326. He has reached 200 hits 4 separate times. And his
1417 hits at age 30 put him on track to get 3000 in his career.
Obviously, Carranza's durability going into his 30s remains to be seen,
but if he can keep things up, he could be an uncontroversial hall of
famer.
I can sort of see the Jack Clark comparison. I would add that I think of Jack Clark as something of a mercenary, and I don't associate that with Bryant. But still.
